(Primary Bible & Jesus, Arts, and Music)
A native of Little Rock, AR, Conner McMains discovered his love for music at an early age. He began piano lessons at seven, and by 12 was accompanying school Masses at Christ the King Catholic School. While attending Catholic High School for Boys he taught himself organ and continued to serve as accompanist, later studying formally before accepting his first position as Director of Music at 17. Throughout high school and college, he served multiple central Arkansas churches as Director of Music and Organist, while also holding leadership roles with the Central Arkansas Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

McMains earned a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Hendrix College in 2012, where he studied voice, organ, and conducting. Actively involved with nearly every ensemble on campus, he led or performed regularly with orchestra, wind ensemble, choir, music theatre, and chapel services. After graduation he moved to Texas, continuing his career in music while pursuing advanced studies. In 2017 he completed a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting at the University of North Texas under Maestro David Itkin.
Today, McMains is Director of Music Ministries at Flower Mound United Methodist Church and Music Director & Conductor of the Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra. He also serves as Collaborative Pianist for the University of Texas at Arlington’s University Singers, Board President of the Fort Worth Chorale, and Placement Director for the Dallas AGO, holding recent positions as Dean of the Dallas AGO and President of Choristers Guild–Dallas Chapter. A sought-after collaborator, he is active as a teacher, competition judge, clinician, and guest conductor for both orchestras and choirs.

In addition to the large and growing variety of regularly-scheduled music ensembles at FMUMC, we frequently welcome guests for special events and services throughout the year, including for Easter, All Saints, Christmas, and more!
